Replacing sills.

Post by Bob_Salmon »

Replaced the inner & outer sill and the front wing support, welding the outer to the door post & the wing support, but this leaves a gap between the front of the door post and the wing support. Somehow, this doesn't look right (door not in place at this time) although I appreciate that this area will be hidden by the bottom of the door as it opens.

Can anyone tell me if this is how it is suposed to be please? I can't find a picture of this area anywhere.

Thanks,

Bob

Once again Nick, many thanks. I did look through your site before asking but obviously missed these pictures.

I am probably being particularly thick - nothing new there - but can I take it that the bottom right hand picture shows how the job is left, with the small area just ahead of the door post uncovered? I am still working on the offside which has (I think) a larger gap due to the differences in the wing joining plates. Somehow, it looks crude but perhaps that's me trying to 'improve' on the original.

Again, my thanks.

Bob

There is a gap between the front of the sill and the wing joing plate. Below is the same section on my 2.2E during restoration
