So, whose 911R was this?

The photo was taken by some VW drag race friends of mine (Mark and Paul Schley) at the 1972 LA Car Show. I'm head over heels in lust…

But in 1972 it was just an out of date 911 race car................

I nearly bought the Toivenen 1969 Acropolis winning 911 for £2000 in 1978, but it was such a shed I walked away from it................

Gurston I think.

The early 911's look good with Minilites!

In '72 I was in my chopped 1937 Y Type Ford Hot Rod.

The 70's were great years. :)

Yes, Graham, Ashes at Gurston in the late 70's. I didn't get to Craigantlet (and Kirkistown!) until 1987 with our present car.

Minilites DO look good on early cars. A friend has just bought a set to go on his metallic gold 911, and it looks fabulous!

Cheers!
