Anyone in need of an oil pump shield tin piece?

Hi all,

I am about to buy one of Ab Tiedeman's oil pump shield tin pieces from the states. He suggested that I buy more than one to cut the shipping down, so if anyone needs one (a lot of cars have these missing ) let me know a.s.a.p. I will order this coming week. They are $20 (approx £12.50) each plus a share of the post and VAT.

On the PRS website they are priced at £30. Even taking into account shipping and tax, that is considerably more than Ab.

I agree with your calcs.

Paul has shown an Alli one on his website which will have been anodised for anti corrosion

The Steel ones will have been Bead Blasted and Stove enamelled - Check with Ab, the finish on his ones, it all makes a difference to production costs

Finally

1) - I would be surprised if Paul would not consider a quantity discount but someone has to send them on to each of the buyers - so postage comes into the equation

2) - What about considering Good Used ?

The ones that Ab offers are powder coated which is the finish on the rest of my tin. If I were to buy used I would have to powder coat which would be uneconomical.

If Paul wants to do 5 at £20 each including post to me he may have a deal.

What does everyone else think?

Hi All
at the risk of looking like a pillock, I do pillock very well, was the oil pump shield something that all 356's definitely should have, as I have owned a few and worked on a number of others and never seen one fitted nor have I come across a beaten up one off the car or got one on a SH motor, that said what happens to all the missing front and rear tins off those loose engines?? Bill.

Count me in as "Pillock number two" I always thought my car was more or less original and I have never seen one of these on any 356 I have owned in the past nor for that matter ever seen a picture of one fitted. It took me some time to see what the photo was about.
Never seen one in any Porsche workshop manual etc etc.

I reckon that would catch most 356 people out in a pub quiz on 356.

I was also going to ask the same questions as Bill. Who can enlighten please the 2 pillocks

Yes all car should have them.
they are only held on by bending over four small tabs...so they are always missing.

Just before you order.

I have 6off genuine ones in stock...some are ok some are a bit ropey.
I can do them at the same price as patten ones.

I have 3off ali ones that I have to keep at our web site price...due to the amount of work involed in producing.
