Hello from Sunny California
I'm here thanks to Roy Mawbry's(spelling) mentioning this forum on the US 356 Registry. It looks like I can wile away some time here if it ever rains again in NorCal.
I decided to give up vintage racing about three years ago, but knew I couldn't give up toy cars, so I did a mental search to find something fun that I hadn't already been through. Click-click-click - 356. Which one? Click-click-click - Roadster. I know that no one on this forum has ever had this happen, but it was rustier than it was supposed to be. It is driving, but still need some help after 2+ years.
I still love vintage racing, but over the years the hassle factor continued to increase, and when it went over the satisfaction line, I quit. During my racing, I made two trips to the Goodwood Revival (as a spectator, not a participant). You guys really do know how to throw a party. Unfortunately, I was quietly asked not to return as the two years I was there were the only two years it rained. If it has rained since, it is not my fault.
During my racing, I ran a Lotus 20 for a few years, then wanted to go faster, so I got a Bobsy-Alfa. (Similar to a Lotus 23/Elva Mk.7.) After a few years, I wanted to continue, but not so fast, so got a Lotus Eleven S2. What an absolutely honest car that is!!
So now I'm trying to learn new tricks, and not let the tail wag the dog.
