Not to be outdone by the 911 section what jobs have folks got planned this Winter?
I'll go first - have the car back on the road ready for CLM in July

Some minor paint correction, new dropped spindles... oh, and put the sodding engine back in so that it moves under it's own power!

Seal shell

Rebuild engine
Rebuild Gearbox - check
Refit everything
Undo parts and rework when it doesnt go right

Drive to Le Mans

i have somewhat cheated and given the car to Andy Prill's fine team to sort out for me.

his re-tuning/rebuilding the engine
fitted second generator (when he can work out how & what it does)
fitting blue lights
fitting yellow spotlights
new carpets
fixing normal horns as they seem to have got disconected when sirens were fitted (as Hendrick & i found out in France while stopped across Tramlines )
new tyre fitted to spare wheel (we got puncher while on c2c)

few other bits which i can't remember missing the old girl greatly but at least it'll stop me using it while the roads are all salty.

1/ Complete carb rebuild (one carb completed this weekend)

2/ Get tuned (once all bits back on engine)

3/ Put car on rolling road

4/ Sort some of paint work blemishes

5/ Get window trim fitted (front and back)

6/ Remove paint and polish brake drums

Might get the top three completed by Le Mans Classic!!!

I am halfway through this early trim nightmare - be prepared to accept failure

-and make sure you buy genuine rubber - i struggled with a faulty repro rear seal for hours only to be told (rather rudely ) by the retailer they had never had any problems and i must be fitting it incorrectly .
In fact, the locating part of the seal was adrift in a 3" area, the trim would never have seated correctly .

apparantly you need diffrent seals depending on who (which factory)manufactured the body of your car. we couldn't understand why the rear window of our 356c leaked like a seive untill Andy Prill pointed out we had the wrong seals for our car fitted.


wish we had taken the car to Andy in the first place we would have saved a lot of money by not having to get jobs re-done having followed bad advise.

Already fixed pulley oil leak.

Fit replacement custom made (stronger) compensator mounts,
Get Weber jets etc.
Put on rolling road for tuning,
Replace RHS Longitudinal,
Bleed & adjust Brakes,
Get tickets for Le Mans Classic and enjoy.

Well the engine is now in, the main refit is done and I just need to add window trims and paint 'details'.
Electrics scare me, but hopefully we will see !
Ideally, Id like to get it all in one vaguely assembled piece and have the money to drop it round at PR Services for a lowering job and general check to get it MOT'd.
That, and getting the thing registered now it is a 'car' instead of a pile of metal bits....

I was planning on getting Paul at PRS to sort the window trim as I am too chicken!!! Also Mike tells me that they have a stash of very well priced screen trim which I hope they will be offering!!!

Of course as mine has been running with just the rubbers for at least 11 years, I suspect new rubbers will also be needed now too??


Good luck for the winter months - Got the first cleaned carb finished and refitted last night / evening, so could not resist taking it for a blast to get the fuel running well!! Ran ten times better just with one carb cleaned / installed and sort of tuned! Just got the get the other dirty one off and repeat the job so I can test drive it again with 2 cleaned carbs!!

Can't wait!!!! As it really pulled well compared to how it was before!
