I couldn't go too far as the starter is being erratic (new shaft bush to go in this week) and I was still on cardboard numbers plates, but it was a good start to my 356 experience nonetheless!

Road legal: the test run...
Well it seemed to take a while but 9 months on from buying what was reg no 'rstytub' from the US via ddk, and after a fair bit of welding, new floors, door bottoms, new bearings/kingpins, a full refurb of the brakes, a load of other stuff I forget, and lots of buying of wrong bits here and there, and a bit of swearing, it was time for a service and an oil change and then we set off for a test run... and it felt pretty good. Lots of grunt, a lovely noise, good brakes....well chuffed!

ta for all the nice comments... I didn't do all the work: I can't weld, so I got that done by a mate up on Devils Dyke... quick plug for Brighton Classic Motors: the guy there is called Siamak if you want a good welder/bodywork/or general mechanic. My method of attack is to blindly have a go at stuff and then take it up there when I get stuck... yes the 500 is mine, I've had it about 4 years, slowly doing it up. Its a pretty neat little car now. My girlfriend saw your the Ivory 356 (Paul) in Brighton last weekend, going round the one-way-system... I felt like a bit of a geek when I immediately showed her the restro on it that had been posted here! I haven't seen it about yet. Would be great to meet up sometime...
