Ignition breaker points: are these the right ones?

Post by marc500 »

I ordered a set of points for my 356 (1960 T5). But now I have them I see they don't match what's currently in the car, here:

The ones I got sent have what looks like the same spring contact part as above but the adjustable contact point is flipped round the other way... I'm assuming they are technically the right ones for the car as they seem to match the pics in my manual. Does anyone else's points in their 356 look like mine? If so, what model is your car (so I can order the right part for mine). Cheers!

Hi
I think you may have an 009 distributor there not reallycorrect for a 356 if it is, you should set the timing for max advance at higher RPM NOT AT IDLE or you could be running retarded down the motorway which is not good , all that aside if its an 050 or 030 you should be fine.
I am a person of simple pleasures so if you don't have any simple pleasures to offer me, beer, pizza or Porsche bits etc kindly leave me be, XX.
