Hello from a New member

Post by waltham wanderer »

Just a qucik hello from a new member - first posting on the forum.
I'm a long time 356 owner - 1965 'C' coupe - which I use on classic rallies as well as general use.

Like open top motoring having owned a 1931 Alvis 12/60 recently, so, I'm giving some serious thought to buying a 914.

If anyone knows of anything available I'd be pleased to hear from you. Don't really want a ''project'' , so a 'sorted ' car preferred.

Look forward to plenty of ''chatting'' with fellow enthusiasts.

Hi sir, welcome to DDK.

why not get a 356 cab for that wind in your hair experience 8)

having said that i do understand your itch to own a 914 a friend sof mine in the USA is selling his, which i am tempted with myself But i am too lazy/tight to import it.

so i put an ad on DDK incase anyone else is interested. if it was already in the UK then it would already be in my collection.

Thanks for the quick response - good 356 cab. would be beyond my purse, and a different model is appealing.

I've had a quick look at the 914 on USA ebay - it appears unsold after reserve not met. Looks very tidy.
If you are in touch with your friend in US - perhaps you could ask if it's still available ?
Any idea of cost to get it to England and registered - I've never tried to import before ?

Sorry to be a pain -

Welcome! There are also a couple of 914s for sale on Pistonheads. Don't know what they're like, but worth a dig.
Hope to see you out in das Mittel Motor soon.

Avoid the white one on pistonheads. i very nearly bought it sight unseen but went to see it and it wasn't even half as good as dealer whould have you believe in his advert.
luckily for me face to face he turned out to be a honest chap and refunded my money without any quibbles. the car is now up for sale for nearly double what i was buying it for
