Post by Ferry Man »

Around here, are we allowed to admit that we rather like the new GT3RS? :)

Absolutely, or at least I will admit it.

I love the modern GT3, and in particular this latest version.

Might it be the last :-(

i think i prefer black with orange wheels/mirrors/spoiler/script like the mk1 997 GT3RS; not a big fan of the chequer-board and the script location on the new one, but otherwise 8) 8) 8)

b :)

ps.. the new wheels (assuming they carried them over from the mk2 GT3? can't 100% tell from the pics) with the centre lock look amazing!

lose the fiat 500 checker board stripe thing and the huge badges and it'll look as good as it no doubt drives

Next year it'll be the new 'Golf GT3'! Shortly followed by the Scirroco GT3, then the Touran GT3

Is it me or, is it trying too hard??

I mean, the RS was never 'steroidal hard core' in it's day, was it? :? The 996GT3 was a bit of a Q car, the GT3 RS a bit less subtle but still, not totally in your face.

This? It's trying too hard to be an LP640 / LP560 / Fezza 430 CS etc. etc - all steroids and angry lines.

Or am I just getting too old and need to go and play with my 356?

Porsche have driven up the price a lot as well.
Series one RS £95k now £101k.
The profit margin must be amazing and they know they will sell every one.
An optioned series 1 RS were going for £105k just after launch and there has been heavy depreciation.
IMHO the best value GT3 is the first ones at around £35k-£40k now.

i like it (it's rare that i ever say that about the newer stuff). i doubt i'll ever get anywhere near to owning one, and probably only see one at a show / race event. Although i prefer them a little more understated as someone else said up there about tyring to hard. Other than that, it looks awesome.

i think i prefer it more like this:

agreed, all the graphics are a bit chavvy.. atleast the script at the base of the doors on the 996gt3rs and the mk1 997 was a throwback to the original rs
i think the new 997gt3rs is no doubt an amazing car, but if i was in the market for a brand new one i'd prob go for a standard gt3 or a narrow bodied C2S with a few tasteful upgrades :)

I agree with Del exactly - don't usually like the newer stuff - I'm more of a 'narrower hip' girl  Like the colour combination, the red wheels and wing-mirror looks good - Charcoal grey is my favourite colour for the later cars too.

...I'd love to have a drive - I imagine it's rather 'nippy'.
Cheers,
Vicki.
