DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

Hi one one of my cars the rev counter works when it feels like it now I know it's electronic and not mechanical. So what do you look out for I am thinking of starting with cleaning all the contacts up I have the gauage out at the mo and I was going to open it up and clean the inside out with electrical cleaner to free it all up. Where is the pick up for the rev counter on a 912E I was thinking it might be the coil area ???

I'm guessing the coil, it was on my type 4 engine in the Speedster

check your points gap and timing, mine did the smae , turned out the points were mis-adjusted

If you open it up, there should be a PCB or something. Check soldered joints for cracking around the component leads. Reflow poor joints with a little fresh solder.
