solex 40 carb problem

Post by Ren »

Hi all, after an engine rebuild I have found that my right side solex 40 in the number 1 cylinder venturi is constantly dripping. But its not from the jet bit. Its coming from the metal bit that goes across the venturi hole. The bit that looks like a bar with a circle in the middle.

Any ideas?

I have rebuilt the carbs with the usual supplied kits and the left side is fine.

The engine also has an Autopulse 500 feeding the fuel set at 2psi.

Oh and engine is a s90/912 half breed.

Hi
sounds like a flooding problem , how did you set the float height's , it can be done with the motor running , there is a screw with a lock nut that works on the float pivot you would have seen it with the carbs apart, this winds the pivot point for the float up or down so effects the float height, so what you do is remove the little plug screw in the side of the float chamber and raise the float height until you can see fuel in the little flat trough in the lower section of the threaded hole , hey presto the fuel is in the right place, however before you do any of that take the top off the carb and ensure the adjustment is at the bottom of its travel so you are winding it up or fuel will pour out the hole with the pump running and make sure the brass bridge is straight and moves easily as over adjustment bends it and causes it to jam, with the top off you can see how it works , yours Bill

it may be wise to find a fire extinguisher before hand too , though I have not had any problems of thr fiery kind,
