DONE! - finally
After 6 years off the road, many many hours of blood sweat and tears she was finally MOT'd taxed and driven on the road yesterday. Managed a good 50 mile shakedown on the airport bypass road which is very light of traffic (going from nowhere to nowhere) -
first impressions, loud, stinky , incredibly solid (thats Porsche for you)
Rocket ship performance (even on a running in engine limiting to 4k (and a bit ;o))
Im going to have a lie down!
Ellie loved her first drive in it, a mix of excitement and terror i think

hi
its an 85 3.2 with a 92 3.6 engine (rebuilt by me, top and bottom) with a genuine RSR ecu remapped (though off this car).
bodywork by Mark Darby at www.rs911.com
Appbiz for the interior trim, RS911/Mark Waring for the seats.
15x7s and 8s, a 911R 10K tacho.
Basically loads of other bits via DDK/Impact Bumpers, some ebay odds and sods.
There is only one problem that lets the first experience down - no3 cylinder is noisy. Originally i thought only at idle originally thinking a noisy tappet but then narrowed it to a combustion noise as with the fuel injector off the noise is gone. On the shakedown drives its now clear the noise is combustion noise under any load at any engine speed so my feeling is
a) exhaust/head seal on no3/
b) exhaust joint (internal)?
c) cyl/head seal on 3.
d) something inside the cylinder like a broken ring.
its a bugger to be in this position but it doesnt worry me too much.
I'll run it down to Rob and Col at Ninemeister and I'm sure they will know.
all in, its amazing to walk around the corner and see it parked up the road out in public - i get that 'WOW look at that' factor on my own car
a tiny bit of me is still tempted to RSR it with steel arches at some point.
it is just fab
