Price - £7500
3.2L 1985 red Targa Carerra.
17" Cup 1 alloys, 235 and 215 tyres i think
Owned for 3 years, driven each summer, not used since March this year (using the old Beetle).
Full stack of paperwork and receipts for 'millions' spent since new.
Not taken care of for the 3 or 4 years prior to me owning it.
Now an honest car, not hiding anything . Not needing anything to use as is.
I replaced the exhaust system with a full stainless twin exit pipe, cost me about £1100, with the pre muffler, cross pipe etc. Very decent heater exhangers.
I spent about 50 hours sorting the heating, all works like a legend, very hot, all new fan motors, new ducts under the rear seat, all the electronic controls work to open and close the flaps.
New discs all round and pads all round in about Feb 08 i think inc two new front wheels i put onto replace the ones I kerbed. Rears are about 2 years old.
Fitted Turbo tie rod kit around the same time, new boots etc.
Car was hiding rust, so a profesional welded in two new inner and outer sills just below the door line, and end caps , so least you know this is done (common fault/area of rust).
Engine is bone dry, pulls perfectly, beaut engine. Was rebuild with new everything about 6 or 7 years ago at i think £5000.
*fitted a re-cond Mass Airflow meter (£600 new) from the US, as it had a flat spot at a rpm.
*in Feb I also took of the water bottle and flushed this system, fitted new motor as again this is a common area for them to jam/clog up.
*Front wheel alignment in Jan 08.
Bad bits:
*where new sills fitted, the paint dosent match (lower rear panel where spring plate holes are). Smooth , but not matching. ie leave as is, or proper blend in. I planned to blend it at some point, but just drove it in the end.
*seats are old and tatty, all there electrics work perfectly , but they are ripped and old (comfy though)
*few small bubbles by the top of the Targa top bar on the body, not rusty as such, photo to see what i mean.
*rear bumper has bubbling in the corner, needs respray or tidy up.
Overall
Looks shiney and good, drives very well in my opinion, Ive spent hundreds of hours replacing the heating, pipes, ducting, switches and relays to make all the electrics work. Old and cheap. Drive as is, or spend a bit of time/money on it as you wish.
Cheers,
