New up North

Post by stuj76 »

Hi Guys and Gals

An other newbie from up North!

I have been registered for some time and have been lurking but never managed or had the time to post.

Just stepping into first ownership of a classic Porsche, I have had 80's and 90's 911s but got the 'classic' taste when loaned a 914 6 and have never been able to shift the bug.

Just in the middle of trying to sort out a deal with 914 6 GT clone in the US, typically not doing it by half measures :| .

Looking forward to coming to events and meeting up with others.

Not mechanically minded so will be calling on people for help and advice!! Thanks in advance...

Stu.

Yes, been following some of the topics on importing and Alan (bluemonk) advised me to check DDK after I missed out on his car.

welcome.
with your 914.6 you have joined one of the most active registers in the UK. and a really friendly community.
and living in north yorkshire you are also in one of the most active areas of DDK members.

:P you don't need to wait for the car to arrive before you join in with the fun. so hope to meet you sometime soon.

Thanks for the welcome.

I am afraid it is not an original 914 6 so it may not be every ones cup of tea. It started life as a 914 which now has a fully rebuilt 2.7 6 cylinder motor!

I think you will find a few 100% the same as yours on here. Ian Gurney is doing one right now and there are a few others that started life as 914's

Don't worry we are not PCGB..

 who cares. so long as you enjoy it.
beleive me it(you) won't be alone in the 914 community.

last year i went to Yeoville with a group of 914ers and i had the only "4" in the group and even that was heavily modified.

Hi James, I used to live in the same town as you but now live in a village just outside Ripon.

Helen,

Those photos look something else. Not often you see so many 914s on the road at once.

Never know, may have mine in time for the so called summer!

Never lived in a town, always villages, but assume you mean Bedale / Northallerton area?

If the 914/6 is here for summer we have quite a few drives planned :)

Why don't you come along to the breakfast club at RAF cosford on the 13th of April, I believe there will be a decent 914 gathering + lots of others.
