DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

After a lot of soul searching I have decided my 72t needs to go, as much as I love this car and its still not finished, for a long list of personal reasons I cannot realistically keep it. Although ive decided to sell at the minute it’s half hearted and im by no means in any hurry to see it go so will continue with the project until its roadworthy and im still hopeful of the lottery win Basically im just letting people know its on the market so if anyone out there is interested in such a car as mine please feel free to make any enquires and of course to come and take a look at it.

So basically it’s a Californian import LHD 1972 911t UK registered historic vehicle (tax exempt). The car has undergone full respray including acid dipping and e-coat. Car is now finished in viper green. Body wise its has SC arches and fibreglass RS bumpers front and rear, duck tail genuine 7 and 8 by 15 Fuchs. It has been G50 converted and comes with G50 gearbox with factory LSD. Has most of the interior lining currently finished including headliner and new carpets. Mechanically it’s all there and in good shape with rebuilt (almost) 3.0 SC engine with 9.8:1 CR, twin plugged heads and dc20 camshafts. All break callipers have been rebuilt with 3.2 callipers upfront all new lines with Goodrich hoses still to be fitted. New shocks all round, new SSI heat exchangers on the way and new dansk sport muffler.

That’s basically it for now obviously far too much work and new parts to list if there’s anything specific you want to know please feel free to ask.

Would sell as it is or as I said before I will carry on with the work until its road worthy so obviously the asking price will depend what state its in at the time as a guide I think ill be open to offers in the 15 - 19k region far less than it owes me. Would also consider selling it without the engine if someone would like to take it a different route i.e. MFI etc.

I don't post much here ( I have been more of an occasional lurker), but your car is great. I have three already or I might be tempted to take it off your hands. However, with what you have done to the car, and the love and effort that has gone into it, as well as the money, I am writing to convince you to keep it.
I have done 3 restos, and they are a PITA. And when you are in the middle of it, and money seems to be flying out of your wallet, and you can't drive it for months, it can be very frustrating.
But when it's done right, (and yours is clearly being done with no holds barred), there will be no greater satisfaction for you one day when you fire up the motor and go for the first shakedown. And your car is going to fly.
KEEP IT and finish the dream!!!

Unfortunatly im not selling the car through frustration with the project, I really love this car and for the most part have really enjoyed building it. If I knew I could keep it im confident it could be finnished in a matter of weeks. Im selling for various reasons partly finnancial but also due to family commitments. Lets face it in 10 years time there will still be plenty of cars around for me to spend my time with in the garage when my kids are in there teens and no longer want me around but in 10 years time I wont be able to go back and take my kids on that family holiday I didnt go on because id just paid for a gear box overhaul. I would love to be able to justify keeping this car just to have it sat in the garage and taken out on the occasional sunny day which ive been doing for that last few years but unfortunatly ive realised I just carnt justify it any longer and some things are more important than lumps of metal. Theres a good chance it wont be the end of my porsche ownership, I may look for a nice mid year car that isnt as desirable or rather doesnt demand the premium the early cars do but in all fairness can be just as much fun. At the minute I just wish id been content with my car as a sapia 72 2.4t. Although it wasnt half the car it is now it didnt own me anything so at least id be able to keep it.

Its an all-consuming hobby: which is why so many end up in business trying to make it pay!

When mine were small, my day job was even more all-consuming, and I will never get that time back..

Sorry to hear you are selling Steve. Many hours of hard work, frustration and knuckle skin went into this project.

Shame, so near.... can you not get it on the road somehow ? even if it is not what you wanted, It willl be worth so much more like that !!
These projects absorb so much cash it is cary, but family first is the best motto !
I keep looking at my project, in a similar state, and know exactly where you are !!
