me and my 65 912 just saying hello

hi
i have a 1965 912 chassis number 451 024. 1 former owner 28k from new.
i bought this car in 1985 for a restoration project and its been sat under blankets for the last 22 years in the corner of my garage.
now the time has come, along with some money to put this beauty back on the road .
it was white when new then painted very badly a horrible red and fitted with a 73 whale tail boot lid , ive found a new lid but still need some floor panels that sit in front of the petrol tank and ideally some photos please so i can see what that area is meant to look like .
i want it to be as original as possible so photos of your 65's would be very helpfull, thanks Dean.

Great another Hampshire 912... we have about 5 or 6 in the area now.. I knew of another one 1/2mile from my house but it sold last summer..

and the 912E that sold to Liverpool ( makes a change it changed hands in Southampton 4 times!!! )

post some pic's I think we need a New year run out though the forest I will have to plan this out...

for early March.

hi thanks ,yes i was at santa pod looking for spares etc .
i started stripping it down this week , just the windows and possibly the dash left to remove , then a gallon of paint stripper and i will know what what i have left

i have an interesting dilema with my car if any one can help its to do with the registration number , the reg is SJL 714 i know what your thinking that its a private plate , ive spoken to the DVLA and they have told me that it has always had this reg !! is this correct would this type of reg be age related to an early 1965 car ? if true i will keep the plate ,if not i think it would look better on a C reg plate instead maybe.
i will post some photos at the weekend .

you say 28K on the car how do you know that?

Max those filters aren't cool they are a pain in the ass.. they weigh a ton and are a pain.. but I guess they look different so poss cool

912uk i wouldnt have any reason to suspect the mileage wasnt genuine as the previous owner had it from new and he didnt drive it for the last 10+ years before selling it to me in 85 .
yes the front floor panels are all ready to weld in although im thinking of replacing the front panel aswell just to save time by not having to fabricate the missing bits myself, im also looking to get some original wheels as i havent got a clue what these wheels are from any clues?.

They look like Porsche fitment 'ATS Classic' wheels.

wow that was fast, yes they are the same make ATS , do you think they are a worth keeping on the car mine are 15" .

Depends if you want to keep the car original looking or not. Personally I'd got for nicely finished steel wheels on a 65 912.
