Front Shocks/Insert Help

Please excuse my naivety on this one.

I need to get new inserts for my 1967 912, and don't want to purchase the complete strut unless there's no other way.

I've only had the car 4 months and need to know if there's a way of identifying between the Boge/Bilstein strut without taking it apart so that I can buy the right insert.

Any advice/assistance/help would be very much appreciated.

They will almost certainly be Konis which were painted orange

Thanks Nick, think I've sorted it for the time being, and yes there were orange.
