Targa roof catch

Post by edwardo »

Thanks to the brother's clumsiness, the right hand catch of my targa roof has broken - he managed to shear off the pin at the end of the handle and the accompanying receptor. Does anyone have a spare catch going that I could use to replace it?

I had this same problem a couple of years back and ended up going to a small welding business where they made up a small pin and, knocked the old one out and hey presto! Took about 20 mins and i think they charged me a fiver!!
Just a thought if you get stuck.............

I have a spare Targa locking handle - Original early type with the ribbed handle. PM if interested and I can send a pic.

Thanks for the responses. I've now had time to take the roof apart to see what the problem is. It appears as though the housing for the handle has split and that the handle pin only has one side (this is the case for each handle. I think probably a good welder can fix the problem easily enough. Picture below. Out of curiosity are the handles supposed to have one or 2 pins?
