New owner, very happy

After lurking for a while and looking at a fair few 911s and 912s I finally picked up my Ivory white 68 last Thursday.





She's a bit scruffy and the previous owner having spent a fortune having the engine rebuilt by Roger Bray has now moved to work in the US.

It's looking like a long project but first impressions are that it's a great drive and a lot of fun! Now I'm sure there will be plenty of stupid questions, but I'll start with one query for the moment...

The brakes are sticking something terrible at the moment from lack of use. Are the seals prone to sticking if unused or if I was to go through the pads, disks etc where's the best place to source these items? Also, is it worth the upgrade to 911 calipers?

Also, what does the black handle on the dash do? When I turn it it sounds like something is opening, but I don't know what!

The brakes on my 912E were binding/sticking a while a go... turned out it was the brake pedal sticking in the "on" position. This was down the pedal box being full of surface corrosion (not rot), thereby preventing pedals from moving freely. Pedal box out, dismantled and cleaned, re-lubed and now working fine.

Hi,sorry to put a bit of a downer on your 912,but Roger Bray did not rebuild the engine,I did some work on it a few months ago to get it running a lot better.But no re-build,I have an idea who did do it though.

My mistake, looking closer at the history it was the thousands in bills from Roger Bray that made me think that! The rebuild was someone else entirely...

Either way, the engine certainly runs very well.

yep with some work and some help from us we can get the car looking just the way you want it.. It looks a great little project.. Where in Hampshire are you? I am nr Fareham are you local to me? if so pop round some time and I would be more than happy to talk 912 stuff and we could go for a spin.

Me thinks you could be another newbie wanting to get the car sorted for Classic Le Mans next year.. you have 9 months to get the car sorted..

OH huge tip.......

if you are looking to paint the car in the future chose the colour very soon and buy the 2pk paint like now!!! it's all going....these things are best in 2pk... Graham might agree with me on this.. although his red 356 in water based did look good the other day... I am still to be convinced long term..

I also have an ivory with red interior 65 model as well ( but some one painted it silver )

Cool, I went to look at this car when I was looking about a month ago. Its had a load spent on it, should be a great project
