Following advice from Boz I decided the first (cheapest) course of action was to have a gander at the pedal box & check it wasn’t sticking. After removing the floor boards I was pleasantly surprised to see how clean it was, some signs of brake fluid lose at some time but I’ve seen worse. Somebody had been into it at prior as the throttle linkage had been renewed. Then I spotted the clutch linkage…

The clavice pin was in an even worse state. It had almost worn right through, probably half a dozen clutch operations left. So out it comes, clean it up, took it over to a friend with mig –cheers again Matt, re-shaped, made new bush, treated, painted, replaced & adjusted.

Only just managed to go for a drive, the clutch feels 100% better
Still, could’ve been worse (we could've lost!)…
