Hi everyone,
I've just stumbled across this forum in the search for a replacement front indicator lens for my beloved 2.4S! As I've owned a few classic 911s over the last 12 years, I thought I may as well join in
I've always been attracted to 911s for obvious reasons, particularly early pre-impact bumper cars. But the first 911 I could afford to buy was a '77 Carrera 3.0 It was a good honest car, but a little scruffy around the edges. Still immense fun to drive though and not too expensive to fret over. But I couldn't afford a garage at the time, so it slowly but surely rotted outside on the driveway
A few years rolled by, the garage came, but the slowly bubbling Carrera 3.0 went. I decided I wanted a faster, newer 911 and so I bought a '93 Carrera 2 RS in near perfect condition (5 years old at the time). What a hoot that was! Great trackday car, but not so good on the road. Far too stiff for most UK roads and it gave me a headache if I drove it for more than 30 mins. Although at least I was grinning from ear-to-ear while taking the paracetamol
A few more years later, I decided I could live without a 911 entirely, so I let the RS go (for £23K folks!) and put the proceeds toward a brand new BMW 330Ci. Well it seemed like a good idea at the time!
Wrong!!! Less than 12 months later, I was having 911 withdrawal symptoms and started looking for a nice cheap 3.2 Carrera as a second fun car. But while trawling the classifieds for a 3.2, I finally came across the car I'd always been secretly searching for. An orginal '73 911 2.4S in pristine condition. I realised at the time how rare these beasts were becoming, as I'd rejected several of them over the years. The seller wanted top money for a LHD car, or RHD for that matter! Also far more expensive than a 3.2 Carrera. I had second thoughts, until I actually drove the car. It's not the fastest 911 I've owned or driven, but it sure is the most fun and certainly the most special.
So here she is, my pride and joy:-

So anyway, better sort out that indicator lens.....
Pete.
