found the orginal owner to my 65 912

Just got off the phone to the orginal owner of my 1965 912 he is 94 now!!!!! and remebers loads about the car..

We are now swaping photo's of the cars. It's just a great buzz to find the owner.. he has had a number of Porsches over the years and sold the 912 to buy a 911 because it had more power and AC even though the AC was not all that good.. as in Texas you need AC

Great stuff wish I could find the ower of my 69 912

I happened to have the service book to the car and inside was an address well it's 40 + years old but with the name and at least the area I started a serch on the net and lucky for me his son has the same name as him!!

SO I called his surgury ( ops sp ) and left a message I got an email!!

wish I had some info about my other cars!!

I am trying to get his 911 E details to me as he lived in Texas, far fetched I know but what are the chances of it turning out to be the bases of Mikes new car a 911E

you never know!!

Yes we spoke for 40 mins at 2p a min ( www.18866.com ) I have been using it for 5 years and it's very good..!!

I also know 2 other owners of the car and between us we are getting a pile of photo's togeather on the car.. so the orginal owner does not know this bit yet..

also some of the 912 boys in Texas are looking to go round to his house with his Son and take the two of them out in the 912's for a few hrs

and the 912 reg mag is going to run a story..

so I better make the 65 look more respectable then...

if he and the car are in an early foto it could be cool if you reshot that, exactly the same angle and light and stuff but with you and the car now (in the same set up as back then).

I'm so jealous! I have no history at all on my car from before it was brought into the UK in 1990 apart from a copy of the Porsche certificate which says it was delivered to a VW dealer in Culver City, California.

I would love to even just know what license plate it wore in the US, let alone previous owners!

looks like the orginal owner is going for the trip down memory lane and taking up the 912 drive out offer.

SO I better get my pictures printed off and sent out ASAP. Shame I have not done much more work to the car. To look at not a lot but the under side Yes.

His son has done a family tree of the cars and it's been a real eye opener about the progress of the cars in his life they are going to get a copy sent over to me..

It's a huge buzz and one I think people both sides of the pond are enjoying esp now as I have informed the two other owners of the car so that's 4 of us.. digging out pictures around the world

it sounded like so much fun to do
so i've spent a little time and found an email adress from 1999 from my first owner, on a small reciept, so i tried it to see if hes still alive and the address works and its him!

fantastic!
its a 69, 911T and he had owned the car for 30 years until 1999. have emailed him to find out lots more. its kinda exciting. it will be to keep alive any stories he has about the car through its future. i'm so excited. thanks for taking the lead 912uk you inspired me! asked him for photos also,
maybe we can post each others 'then' and 'now' shots here when we get them?

update: i just got a huge email from my 74 year old first owner
he used it daily for 30 years going to hospitals and the like (he was a doctor) and he bought it beacuse his wife was sick of him being grumpy when he drove a cortina ater selling his 356! so she said 'just go and buy whatever you want' and he came back an hour later with the dealers showcar 69T (after going out to buy QUOTE 'a ferrari or mercedes' - how cool is that! he drove the 911 and said there was no comparison. he sold it after 30 years because he was moving to an island! top bloke. full respect.

i encourage everyone to spend effort on this its so fascinating for the owner! and probably dull as sh*t to everyone else!
