How Common / Rare is Leaf Green??

As the work on mine continues, the rear bumpers and centre panel have been removed: mainly so I can finish Michel's (Silver911) bumpers and check their fits.

Anyway, as all of the old muck fell away, so did a bit of old style underseal, under which was a shiny bit of paint. I assumed that the bits of green that I had seen peeking out from the very comprehensive Red respray were Viper.

This is the only bit I've found that is very well preserved, and it really looks like leaf, and sure enough, after cleaning up the paint plate is the code 218.

Any ideas on numbers for a '72 MY car? Mine was LHD out of interest.

Leaf green is a fabulous colour - don't know that I've ever seen an original Leaf Green 911 (or 912) in the UK...

It's a quite extraordinary coincidence this.

During (I think) the Northern Run last year, I was with someone (Mike?) and pointed out a Nissan Figaro in what must be a similar colour, and said I'd love to do a 911 in the same.

Like I say, I thought I had the third out of my three Porsches that had started life as Viper, so this makes a change

I might get a bit mixed up*, and do a colour panel (the green, bit of satin black: wheel centres and tyres, bit of polished alloy: window trims / chrome) and see how it all works together. I'd imagine it would be a bit like Gulf for being quite sympathetic to the panels as well.

* Don't even think about it; I know I get a bit mixed up, I meant the paint

A local friend of mine owns a leaf green car. It is a STUNNING color and one of the best colors in the Porsche palette. I go to events with this guy all the time and people naturally flock to his car. We told him we were going to get a shirt made for him that said "It's leaf green." because people ask him all the time.

Yes, Rich, that '73E Targa (one of the last built in July '73) was a one-owner car & sold for ~$25k...

I've just looked at the link Barry gave too and I have to say Beige Grey looks stunning too.

It's funny how trends and fashions change. I must admit 10-15 years ago, even less, I would have turned my nose up at the thought a Beige Grey or Leaf Green Porsche. A friend of mine has just bought an orange 912, a colour I've never really been interested in and it looks beautiful! Guess I'm just sick of every new car being either Silver, Black or a shade in between. Saying that I'm currently looking for a new daily and I want Silver

Before anyone decides to go leaf green check to see if it is available from your supplier, when I asked my supplier 2-3 weeks ago leaf green was not available in base 2K (which I wanted) and it may also not be converted into water base. We will find this more over the next year, in that not all these old colours will be converted over. I used metallic green instead.

I just got paint samples from the US today and I need to get out and get some 2pk made up ASAP... there is France from what I understand who are taking another year to do this so I was told ( not sure on this. ) then there is also the US where it's not happening yet.. so there is a way to ship in paint still in a car..
