Got my car back after two years welding etc...

After fixing the fuel startvation problem, don't ask! ...and having some shameful episodes whilst stalling in middle of road in 3rd rather than 1st... I have decided to change the complete bushings of the shifter linkage.

My concern is this on closer inspection...

Is my gearstick shaft worn out in the 1st/reverse position?
...and is the gap on the spring plate too wide meaning no positive 2nd / 3rd gate for the springs to work on... defining the 3 gates for rev/1st : 2nd/3rd : 4th/5th

Comments anyone?

I can weld the shaft to get rid of the ridge... but do I need a new stop plate ? They are $18 from Pelican.
