I've decided to strip and clean my carbs (solex's) and reassemble using new gaskets etc.
Question is - when i mount them back on the manifolds should i use some sealant?
The carbs had been sealed on before and were quite messy.
I think they were sealed due to the lugs being warped, but i have fixed this now with my trusty file and straight edge. They are looking much better now.
Found an insect stuck in the inlet side of one needle valve and a totally blocked tube under one of the idle air jets!

There should be some bakerlite type gaskets between the inlet manifolds and the carbs. Not sure though whether the original gaskets are still available, although I am sure that there will be some alternative.
