mfi pump for 73 911

Post by Garrett »

I have just discovered that my 2.4S has the wrong pump: its a .... 014 Bosch part no. which is correct for a 2.4E. So I am in the market for a 2.4S pump ... 013, and my 014 is for sale or exchange.

Hope this makes sense!

I think you can also use the US 1972/73 911S MFI nr. 019

019 is the '73 2.7RS (& '74-'76 2.7 Euro Carrera) injection pump.

012 is the '72/'73 Us mfi pump for the 2.4S.

You can also use 021.

That's handy to know; incidentally, there's a chap by the name of Peter tracking mfi pumps for sale mostly on ebay at http://www.early911sregistry.org/forum/ ... php?t=9730 Thank God for forums and the exteded and connected brethren, I say!

The process of identifying/tracking the sale of mfi components on the Early 911S Registry (along with sales of T/E/S cars, etc) can be both a good & bad thing - if you're looking to buy something on ebay (like the correct mfi injection pump) there's very little chance of stumbling on an item that others may have overlooked...

I had it dyno'd last Fri. at Cork Institute of Technology's outstanding transport engineering facilities, and many thanks to Keith and Damien there. Wish I could put the pdf of the curves up for viewing ( don't know how...), but max torque = 158 lb.ft/ 213 N.m @ 5530 rpm; Max ISO power 189.4 BHP @ 6721rpm. Lambda indicated rich below 5000 ( 0.8 - 0.9) but OK above: 0.9 - 0.95. Advised to leave mixture be, just check plugs from time to time.

I won't now be replacing the pump. Judging by the performance on the rolling road it looks like it was rebuilt as an S pump in the past, maybe the original 3d cam was fitted to the exchange pump, does this happen?

Hello there.

You may be surprised to learn that the results you quote would be quite consistent with a T pump in fact: its a simple matter to make the mixture correct at the top end..because all the pumps are identical above about 4000 rpm..

The differnce with the S pump is that it will also give a correct (leaner) mixture below this.

Kind regards
David
