912E #576, FUDGE, Gets rear ended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bueno Estente

Last weekend i want to forget. On Friday the 13th the exhaust fell off my old '89 VW Jetta

. 'Smile

it could get worse' i thought. I did smile and then on Sunday the 15th........................
I was out with my girlfriend and a good friend from London in the old 912E Fudgester. When were returning from a picnic on Heath Common Wakefield we got rear ended while waiting at a T junction by an errant driver in a Renault

. I will not say the gender or hair colour of the errant driver but have a guess.

CLUE: In 25 years of driving i have been hit whilst legally parked 3 times by the same type of gender with the same hair colour

After taking Monday off work to get quotes for repairs from both an independant and an official Porsche agent the quote from the independant is £850 plus parts. I have to hear a reply from the official Porsche centre.

I am informed by the independant garage that rear USA spec overiders that all 912E's are fitted with are NLA

If Nig' who used to own that cool White 912E is reading this then please can you write me a recipt for the pair that i bought from you last summer.
I may have to used 'em to repair Fudge.

Alas no but,

The official Porsche agent took over a dozen though. The car looks OK with just the overiders 'sliced' into. But the bumper is loose, the reflecter panel is cracked and the engine lid is hard to close now

One is as sick as a Goldfish in a bowlful of P*ss

how much do you want the receipt to be made out for? £100?!!? NOS it expensive these days especially if you have to import it.

BTW tough luck at least it sounds repairable, hopefully without losing that patina

Bummer, most things can be fixed though, usually as good as new. Mine is great after we hit a deer on way back from Le Mans, doesn't stop that sick feeling though...

Arrr Gavin I have some thing for you for this..

I thought of you when I was in Oz I have bought a pair of Roo whisles these sit under the car and Animals Deer and Roo's Horses can't stand the high pitched sound we can't here it.. and they run a mile. The flyer says they can here it up to 1mile away..

So I have bought some, if you want some let me know I can get for Sept I think they were $6 Ozy dollars so that's like less than £2 for the two

Sounds cool, do they use the 'wind' from the cars movement through the air? Or are they powered? Guess they would be okay when you are doing a few mph round the Polo if they are 'wind powered'.

Nige, in answer to your previous post, 'Yes please, that'll do nicely'.

Sadly Fudge will loose part of her 'ex San Francisco dog kennel' patina but like Gavin says she will come out looking all the better afterwards.
I guess i'll have to get her totally repainted now as Fudge will look a bit odd with a shiny looking rear end with a faded front

HANG ON A MINUTE!! This is Fudge we are talking about.

Fudge IS odd looking compared to the average UK based 912E anyhow

That's a part of her character.

Rick... really sorry to hear about the accident mate! A real sickener! Just hope you can sort the Fudgester out to your satisfaction and that she'll be back on the road for the summer.
