Post by hunter »

Just thinking - does anybody have any idea how many 912's are in the country at the moment?

Also, how many lhd and how many rhd? - just a thought.

The age old question!
I have tried to get the info from the DVLA on a few occasions, but the last attempt yeilded a document that was so flawed in it's data that it was useless, all kinds of car were in there, very hard find anything concrete.

At my last MOT the computer system does not even have the 912 model in it's data. The info might be there somewhere but it seems very hard to get at.

We have between 80-100 cars on the PCGB register, but I think that is only a smallish selection.

People often quote about 50 rhd cars but where this data came from I don't know. Porsche have very little data either.

Tough one...

I think even if we were to try and tie it down by listing all of the cars in both the register and ddk - even that wont give a definitive number as there are still cars out there that belong to neither.

A case in point - i was out in my car about 2 weeks ago and decided to drop into the local shop. When i returned to the car an old guy came running out of the greengrocers and said "i've got one of them".

Turns out he has a red 912 1969 and is not online and has never heard of ddk or the register (he is in pcgb).

there you go see..

I recon there are close to 225-250 cars in the UK.

with RARE Right hand Drive cars making up 90% of the that figure as there seams to be a new 65 rhd car on ebay every week!!!!!

 Yep, and I'm just about to put a '65 RHD car on ebay!

I wonder how many RHD 912's really are about? I've had 12 to date, and I know Retro Alex has had a similar number over the years.
