914 and 912e gearboxes... are they the same?

Post by boz »

Hello all you 14 fans!

Just a quick question for you... do 2-litre 914s run the same gearbox as the 912e? The 912e runs what is essentially a 915 gearbox with different ratios in 1st and 2nd, as compared to a 915 box fitted to a 911.

Cheers

Nope, the 914 uses a modified 901 box and is designed to run in a mid-engined car (180 deg to a rear engined car)

As far as I know 912e use a 915 gearbox that has slightly different ratios than usual and is called a 923.
