Record price for 67S paid from UK

30.000 USD for a restoration basis is a lot of money. I wonder what I will have cost when finished. I was thinking about the car, but when the seller send me some detailed pictures I was too shocked to bid.

Um - am I loosing my marbles? 'Cos this picture looks JUST like the ones from the 'ex. Waldegard' 911S auction earlier in the month. If so, this looks like a scam from a zero feedback seller - the bidder looks to be in the UK - Lord I hope he's not getting fleeced

If I remember correctly that Waldegard car was rusted to the core with large bits missing. Don't think it was as complete as this either. Nevertheless the vendor of this car is zero feedback which looks a bit dodgy.

I bid on both cars. The Waldegaard car was complete apart from the engine and a couple of small body sections, but had rock solid provenance. I spoke to Bjorn before bidding and he confirmed everything the seller was saying. The 67S needed just as much work, was complete, but £30K! Someone in Sutton Coldfield must be very confident of its worth. At least he already has a few essential parts for the restoration; trunk light, manual etc. judging by his buying record. I wonder who it is?

wow i didnt realise that spending ones own hard earned cash could generate such discussion

yes 30,000 dollars is more than i thought id pay but id have been delighted with 25,000 dollars and didnt want to get pipped for 50 dollars so i rolled the dice and threw the bid in and im delighted to have got it

ive had a contact go and look at it for me and yes its a total restoration but its all there and all that lovely paper work to go with it and even the original tube of factory paint, webasto muffler still intact, tool kit complete etc etc etc

ive been looking for a restoration project for some months as all my other swb are frustratingly in timewarp condition and too nice to be pulled apart. so my reasoning is that i want to restore one as a project which i will enjoy and the cost of restoring a 10,000 dollar 911 coupe will be the same as restoring this 911s and okay there is 10,000gbp difference but this is a one owner 911s complete nothing missing with all its original paperwork .............i think i will spend at least 30,000 gbp restoring it ..........what would you rather put your money into ??? also i think thepoint most people are missing is that porsche stopped making these swb cars in 1968 and the S for 67 was pretty unique

and also its all so relative ....... ive had loads of emails via ebay asking me if ive gone mad ..............probably from people driving round in bmw's and mercs loosing 12-1500 pounds a month .............i bought my wife a RR last year which has lost 2000 a month in value and swallows minimum of £100 a week in fuel and frankly pisses me off every time i look at it !!

the only thing missing off this car is the 4.5 inch fuchs ......any for sale ???

and ill be needing some helpfull tips on restoration !!!!!

Apologies Steve I got confused and everyone panics when they see a zero feedback seller on eBay selling a high ticket item. I know we all have to start somewhere but there are so many scams on eBay it's getting worrying.

Congratulation on the purchase your logic does seem to make sense. Seems a bit steep the depreciation on that Reliant Robin you got the wife, maybe you should consider a wee Polo or Mini next time

BTW I know where I get my hands on a perfect set of 4.5 Fuchs, all I have to do is break into Mike's (210bhp) garage were their is a certain SWB 911S that I'm in love with

Congratulation Steve, if there is any help I can give you with the restoration let me know. Apart from the 4.5" Fuchs of course. I have a set but they are earmarked for my own 67S restoration project.

Well done Steve.
A nice basis for a very nice car. If it is black, it'll be particularly nice.
The guys in the US appear surprised at the price but it only seems like £15k to us in the UK (we'll ignore any taxes eh?).
Considering what your likely to spend it's a modest part of the deal.
I believe you'd be lucky to find a complete and genuine early S in the UK for less than £10k anyway. So £15k and a bit more..... well, it's more fun than in your pension scheme. Enjoy the restoration and hopefully share it with us.

I didn't start this thread to run this buy down. Congratiulations Steve!
I was thinking of bidding as well and would have done although the pictures were quite shocking, if I havn't find a nice 67S here in Germany for a reasonable price just yesterday.
I looked at all the early 911 for a long time and the longer I thought, I realised that the ultimate and purest is a 67S. When you look at the door pockets and the green instruments you feel the echo from the 356, but in 1967 this was the fastest production car made in Germany on the market.
All the paperwork and matching no's are really adding to it. A fully restored 67S has a market value here in Germany of about 45-50.000 Pounds now. And by the time this car will be finished you may be able to add another 10K.

Please keep us updated with this project. I have talked to Dan as well, seems to be a nice chap. Did he find the keys in the meantime?

i just read that only 1% of all early swb 911's were produced in black so its probably a rare colour for a 67 911s

just hope the container doesnt fall off across the atlantic now !!

Congrats on your purchase. I am not bitter that I owned (albeit for 2 days) an original RHD 911 67S in polo red, one owner, LSD, full service history, no work required etc for the large sum of 9000 GBP. I bought it on the PCA website from a guy down the road in Orlando when i lived in Florida. On the way to picking it up he changed his mind, sent me back my deposit and put it on evil bay. It only sold for 22,000 dollars to a guy in Aus or NZ Not that i am bitter.....
