Hazard Switch & Heater Control Facia Removal Query

Post by Highfield »

I am now on to replacing the vinyl sections that are glued to the dash facia - currently tan sprayed black and looking bad !

I have removed the ignition switch cover and light switch collar, but cannot see how the hazard switch surround comes off (giving access to apply the new vinyl) - help.

I also need to replace the vinyl that goes around the heater control. How do I remove the heater control facia to make vinyl replacement possible.

Ian

The hazard switch surround doesn't come off. It is integral with the unit. You have to get behind the dash and squeeze the two clips running the length of the switch to allow them to come through the dashboard hole. The whole unit pulls toward you through the dash. Then you can remove the connections providing there is enough slack in the wires.

Hazard Switch

Post by johnM »

Hi
Just done the same to my car, the hazard switch will pull apart about half way down leaving the wiring intacked. Then as 210 says squeeze the tabs.

The heater control chrome surround comes off just pull, I removed the heater control unit as i was also removing the aluminium backing strip, you may not have too, if you do there is a bolt at the rear of the unit that needs to be undone then the unit will pull out of the front of the dash, you also have to unplug the wiring loom and remove the valve cables.
