A pair of early Bosch 911 indicator / side light lenses

Post by taribo »

I have on offer here a pair of pre 73 911 indicator / side light lenses.
I think that these were supposed to be 'all white'
Someone in the past has used that continental coloured paint to give them an orange colour look.
This would require cleaning off to get back to all white.
Would look good on certain coloures cars.
Or perhaps Porsche never made all white lenses and I have got it all wrong.

Thanks that's my 69 912. There was some debate about the wheels on here and I think most people liked the car when it was on it;s steels..

But hey ho.. fancy a change..

So those lenses with what's left of the orange paint could be made clear to look like mine put an orange bulb in and your away.. BTW mine don't even have the chrome egde.

That is a great looking car. After much debate, I am also going for polished fuchs on my targa but with detailing like on the '67 wheels I believe.

How much are you looking for the indicator lenses? Would they fit a '73 targa do you know? I reckon once cleaned up they would look great on my gemini blue car.

Just butting in....
put an orange bulb in and your away
Another alternative would be the silver bulbs Phillips make that glow orange when lit - they remove the "fried egg" look when not in use.

I have some in the front 'fish eye' indicators (clear lenses) on my split van and they look great (IMHO) :P

I was open to offers on the lenses, but as someone asked, are they worth £30? I think that they will fit the 70-73 911's as they look they same as the ones on my 70 2.2T, I just don't know if the SWB cars use the same sized lens or a bigger or shorter version. Does anyone else know if SWB 911's use a different lens?

Swb lenses (both front & rear) are different to lwb versions & are not interchageable with them.

Originally the swb lenses were an integral part of the lamp units & were not available separately.

However in latter years aftermarket replacement swb lenses (of very good quality) have become readily available.

What do you reckon mine are from the pics?
Is there a way I can tell?
part nos etc?

I have never had any SWB experience, I think that my stuff is all LWB

They're definitely for lwb '69-'73 models.
