MFI Intake Value
I’ve recently bought a set of MFI intakes to use for an engine project, they were sold to me as 2.2 E intakes with the mag stacks, I wanted these as they are the best for boring to the size I need. However when they have arrived they have turned out to be 2.0 intakes from a 69E. These can still be bored out to the desired size however the stacks have a thinner wall which means after boring I will be left with a 2.5 to 3mm thick wall which is not really ideal. The other option is to sell these and get another more suitable set. What sort of price does the 2.0 sets fetch compared to the 2.2 and 2.4 stuff? Is it comparable?

Hi Steve
the 2.4 stacks are plastic so cannot be bored.
I also recall a thread about 2.0 throttle bodies having a different stud spacing, i just wondered if this ment that the stacks would also have different stud spacing making them non interchagable with 2.2 stuff.

Hi John
The stack to throttle body stud spacing is different on the 2.0 to the 2.2 and 2.4 stuff this is why the 2.0 mag stacks are thinner walled to the 2.2 mag stacks as the studs are closer and hence need to be kept as a matched set. Thats why im considering selling this set to buy the thicker walled 2.2 setup. I just wanted an Idea of what price the earlier stuff goes for compared to the later ones.

Hello, Steve.
The 2.2 mag stacks are obviously in demand for this reason: so a bit more, but finding them may be the main issue, I may have a set of 2.2E stacks with bodies spare....give me an email and we can sort something I'm sure.
What size are you planning to bore to?

Kind regards
David

Yeah too big for the plastic ones, im wanting to bore to 42mm on the bottom of the stack and 48 on the top. Eurometrix in the states say they can bore these earlier mag stacks to this spec but this is leaving only a 3mm thick wall. The later 2.2 ones are 5mm thicker extrenally.davidppp wrote:PS plastic stackas can be bored, but maybe you want reall big?
