Old or spare MFI throttle body
Hi,
Does anyone have a spare or old MFI throttle body? I would like to test machining the ports into different sizes and also test machining and sleeving ports.
I would like to get into a position where I can get carbs and throttle bodies refurbed in house.
Thanks
Alan

Alan,
I have a pair of complete MFI throttle bodies with linkage, butterflies etc. I intended selling them as a pair. I took them off the car because there is wear where the butterfly spindles seat in the bodies but I think that can be bushed. If you really only wanted one of them I'd consider it. Do you want to send a pm?

Hi Eddie,
Thanks for posting on the forum. I am basically looking for some old/cheap throttle bodies so I can have my engineer test his machining on them. We have been re-bushing them fine but would also like to test enlarging them and then re-sleeving them.
How much are they Eddie? I am really after something very cheap as they will be test ones.
With thanks
Alan

Hello Alan.
It will be very useful to have a really good value source of recon bodies in the UK: the work is not really difficult but is quite time-consuming and hence costly.
It seems to be about 600 quid all in from the States, and more in Germany etc..
Overboring and sleeving would be a good way to go IMHO.
I do have one worn set of correct 69 S bodies for my 69 S which I am planning to do..but they are not exactly cheap as you know!
the other aspect of recon these is often to repair cracked bolt ears on the base..and sometimes corroded base gasket faces..
I have welded them but they are mag and will burn very excitingly ..I have my own technique for this involving oxyacetylene and argon....
Kind regards
David

Hi David,
My guy here is very good and is very experienced. If you have any further ideas of what would be useful in pulling together a service which can offer a service in the UK please let me know. I think I have sourced a pair of TB which need to be re-furh'ed so we will machine and re-sleeve those to see it is possible and more importantly economically viable?
Thanks
Alan
