My Sporto has also been getting progressively worse - the seals in these gearboxes are over 30 years old - should be ok to drive into town - just check before you leave and keep an eye while driving.

The solution has been to refit all the seals in the gearbox - not a small job

I wouldn't risk it. Stick it on the trailer, it'll only take 5 minutes

HI Helen is it the sporto box leaking oil ?? if so is it engine oil or gearbox oil which is leaking , as the converter is fed by engine oil from a pump on the L/H cam .

HI Helen as the oil is clear then it will most prob' be gearbox oil, poss' from the selector shaft seal, or the speedo drive has come loose, with out looking at it , please DO NOT drive it unless you can get some gear box oil in to it, as by the sound of it, it has been leaking for some time???.
hope you get it sorted ok with only a seal. If you require any info please ring/PM me.

regards mike

if im still not happy with it when i get it back then i'll contact you if that ok?
