Car Storage-Garage De-humidiifiers

Hello all,
I am a newbie on DDK, although i was at CLM with you all. I have been 'residing' in Iraq ever since and i have come to back to the glorious english weather. What type of de-humidifiers/ heaters can people recommend to run all winter to keep my garage dry/warm? Thanks Rich

I use a carcoon but other than that I have a client that uses two he bought from B&Q for his GT40.

First things first......

Ensure that your garage is efficiently sealed from the outside weather.

I use a 'household' dehumidifier - no heating - and it works quite effectively, currently having to empty the tank every day in this unseasonal warm/damp weather.
Mind you I do think I'm trying to dehumidify the whole of North Yorkshire

due to the (draught) seals around the doors being worn out.

Look for 'Garage-Dri' thread on this site - I think pmjt uses these and they look/sound like the poodles privates

judging by the amount of rain this morning, I don't thiink your dehumidifier is upto the job of all of Yorkshire

BTW, I have a Carcoon that I use in my old damp garage. Good bit of kit but a real PITA to use ( getting the car in & out)

I'm having a new timber garage built which is going to be insulated ... I'm probabally not going to carcoon the car in this new garage as you never get those little winter jobs done to the car because you can't be arsed to get it out of the carcoon

I found that with the car coon I tied it up so when you wanted access you could just nip in with out all hell breaking loose when it's deflated..

I use a Wickes brand dehumidifier (made by EBAC) and run a hose from the water colletion nozel outside the garage so I don't need to empty the collecting bucket. I bought a 5 year warranty with it that I've renewed. It's been worth it- having sent it back for recharging the gas and general servicing a couple of times over 6 years or so.

Thanks for the tips. Carcoon does look like a PITA so I will probably go for a ambidry dehumidifier as advertised on DDK. Car is off to Crispins at the end of the week due to no brakes. Should be all warm and dry by the time it gets back! Cheers Rich

Mate do you still have footage of us guys on track on the parade laps?

You told me you have some keen shots of my car taking on those two GT3's.

I certainly do. As I said , I was in Iraq for a spell so i have not done anything with the video. I am hoping to buy the vid software and start editing soon. I do have your 'tyre warming' antics on the pit lane straight in glorious colour for all to see!!

Yep its a bit awkward, but its fantastic for the price,Ive got two and an added bonus it keeps out the rodents as well, but just in case I'vo ot one of those electric gizmo's from B&Q plugged inside the bubble
