Yes, one supremely excellent weekend! Those Duel 911s were magnificent.
Also managed to emulate a few of the Six hours boys by parking the Pig backwards in the scenery when almost home - standing water and a marginal rear Toyo don't mix well, circa 160kph...

Hawthorn bushes are more forgiving than armco! Lucky to get away with just a dented back bumper - fibreglass RS job so may even be repairable...

Hey,
This is the first time I've seen the new 'Racing Forum'
Great idea.
As far as the getting started in racing thing is concerned
I am more than happy to answer any questions about my
experiences. I know that there are a lot more experienced
guys out there who don't post very often if at all.
Robert Barrie for one is a super driver and Steve Monk of
course. Steve has been very helpful to me setting up the car
and I would have no hesitation in asking for his advice.

Yes of course motor racing is never going to be cheap but I
beleive that you can have an enormous amount of fun and
don't have to spend a King's ransome. Youa have to remember
that the car that I bought had been racing already for
some years. I just got my licence and joined the HSCC.
Simple as that. A very very nice bunch of guys who
make you feel very welcome.

I guess it is like most things money does buy success. You only
have to look at F1 for that. But to me the taking part is the prime
aim. Sure it's nice to get better and better lap times and know
that you are gradually improving.

This was my first season and although I had done a couple of track days at Castle Combe
in my old XK150 before nothing prepared me for sitting
on the grid at Donnington in the pouring rain in my first race!
My main aim through the season was to survive and stay in one
piece. The best driving experience was of course at Spa but the real highlight for me was
being part of the winning team at Birkett Relay.

It was great to have support from my son Mark 'Themonkey'. Next year he plans to campaign
a 1978 924 so I guess we'll be adversaries to a point.

I know that some guys have said they will come to some of the races
and that will be great.

Thats the screen thing that Mark 912uk did for me.

Just looking forward to next season now. I still have to pass the MOT in the race car on Tuesday so wish me luck..
