which grease to use ?

I am cleaning up my steering rack and want to top up the amount of grease on the rack, is there a particular type to use?

I have some general CL grease at home or I think the local Halfords sells LM type, would either of these be correct?

Also I will be rebuilding the front and rear bearings, so again is there a particular type to use please
