All ready for a successful weekend at Shelsley Walsh. Very useful practice day on Saturday, and then Season Opener event on Sunday.
Just pipped to the class win by Nigel Elliott unleashing the power of his 4.6 litre twin turbo TR7 up the finishing straight.

It’s not too bad - exhaust / cars off, strengthening members, then all the usual stuff. In the air it took 90 mins to drop out. Getting back in is much harder - it is a much heavier box than the 901 box that was in the 914. Was a long day….

The 911 sounded great, new engine sure sounds strong.
A twin turbo V8 is a tough one to crack!

We kick-off at Loton this weekend.
And I've got a Full-Fat-V8 in my class too, and to think in 2008 I was one day away from fitting a Rover V8 into the Lola.

A little less than a stock 996 - the small air intake in the rear wing of an early Boxster are not enough to give big power. Even with a really improved intake tract from standard, cone filter and equal exhaust, it made 285.4bhp and 250 lb ft torque. I think it will be plenty though with no electronic aids and slicks. Runs lovely - rev limit slightly up at 7,400, peak power at 6,840

What’s the weight of the Boxster now Wayne?

It weighs 1170kgs with me wet - about 1080 dry. The power is about 293 bhp using the losses calculation of the championship so there or thereabouts.

Just need to find reverse now!

Hi All
Running a little late with this but on Sunday I (well the 'Rep') was invited to a 'Wheels up North' and South Lakes OPC photo shoot at a local 'country house'.
Lots of 991 and 992 limited edition stuff 'R's', RSR and GT3's etc attend but they're out of shot for these pics...




I took these with an iPhone but I'll post the Pro Photographers stuff once I have the pics (and permission)!

So took the 2.4S out for a drive this morning , got a few issues cropped up

Gearbox; seem to have the makings of a slight rumble when In 5th

Electric windows; both sides have stopped worked, fuse ok, sounds as though the mechanism is jammed. When switched you can hear the motor wants to go but it doesn’t.

Engine; when I turned it off it over ran, never had that before, so carried on running for maybe 2-3 seconds after it was turned off


Indicators; need to locate the earth as I think I’ve got a bad one somewhere. When you indicate left, they all come on as if it is the hazards. Fitted LED’s over the winter, wondering if that is issue

Oh and the brake pedal has gone slightly soft again, so I’m obviously taking in air with no evidence of a leak, strange one that

Did you change the flasher unit at the same time ?

If not, that could be the problem as, since the LEDs take less current, it confuses the original flasher unit.
