Hi Dan , It's a pity I shuffled the 911E up t'north otherwise would have been good fun to get out in the same session on Thursday . Will be in the 964RS so if you get in front of me there can be some video footage , NB if you get behind Vic you will need KERS working.....

you know what its like... having a project is fun

i've enjoyed some great garage threads on pistonheads and garage journal, here is my small contribution:

started with std single skin brick garage, concrete floor:

stage 1. painted all the brick work with bitumenous paint

stage 2. battened it all out and did cable runs for sockets and lights:

stage3. insulated walls with polystyrene and ceiling with loft insulation type stuff:

stage 4. plasterboarded, painted

stage 5. laid a dynotile floor over v thin underlay. v easy apart from the fact the garage wasnt square so lots of annoying trimming round the edges needed.

also bought some "slatwall stuff" from bigdug, this was mounted straight onto the battens and a v nice way of building in some racking / storage

stage 6. hang various pictures I had been collecting in anticipation of having a "man cave" at some stage

stage 7 to be finished off this week...a run of units from Howdens and some thin wall mounted electric radiators. The fridge is in and stocked, the ipod dock is plugged in, and the door is locked to prevent unauthorised entry by small children or dog. Happy days!

Have you managed many track days or a continental blast in the orange yet ?

Jason - I think I have a similar 'pile' in my garage, but it is only a single size so twice the pile height.....note to self - clear out garage before winter.

all the crap that was in the garage is now in a stable thats been turned into a toolshed...double result, means no pestering for a pony! ps. was the pictture being upside down a deliberate mistake?? :lol:

3x Goodwood so far Ian. had booked Silverstone for the Porsche club GB thing last weekend until they changed it parade laps only. so need to find another Silverstone date. 1700 miles in total, been great. apart from wear rate on the TB15's :(

Nice one Dan,turned a cold dark garage into a great space for the evocation 8)
I'm in the middle of building a garage at the moment,and would be interested in your opinions on the Dynotile floor system.When the tiles snap together,can water get through the joints,or are they completely water tight?

hi dougie

i would not think they were watertight, no. the tiles butt up q tightly against each other but still a noticeable join.

i have assumed with the thin underlay (looks like something removal men might use to wrap a vase) it should be damp-proof ...but not 100% water resistant

easy to fit and seems q sturdy. I jacked up the car on a std trolley jack on small wheels and there was no dent or marks afterwards

when I bought the car in its original form from Ian Highfield, it had a half cage in it, and at the time, with costs spiralling on the build, I left that in

having done a few trackdays last year in the completed car thoughts have turned to racing. That plus safety plus chassis stiffness led me to conclude that a full cage is the way forward. This year should include a couple of sprints and maybe a hillclimb or two. My car will evolve towards race car spec but still road legal and usable (i hope!)

now even in T45 form that much metalwork adds up. So in an attempt to counterbalance that a bit, carpets and sound deadening and roof lining have gone. Glass swapped for 4mm lexan and 2 batteries swapped for 1 smaller one. original uncracked dash top and door rails tucked away and replaced with new lwt plastic. Cabin will be mainly orange metal and RS/RSR spec ribbed rubber mats

the eagle eyed will see that the cage bolts to the B pillars but by taking those 2 bolts out, I believe this will satisfy pretty much all MSA / FIA events

behind one of the horn grills now lies beefed up metal work and a threaded hole for either a tow eye or a "beam breaker"
