Its continental orange I think but reds/oranges are notoriously hard to get colours correct in photos - its very light orange in bright sun and very dark orange in the shade! But its definitely orange...

collected my car this evening from Tuthills. the planning, purchasing, reading, learning etc has been great fun and I've really enjoyed doing my own project rather than buying a car someone else has done. It was almost in a funny way a disappointment to be collecting it !
But not for long...once I drove it any such thoughts were binned immediately. What I love about a sorted classic 911 is they actually work as a vehicle in 2011 (and hopefully for many years to come) which you cant say for all classics. Just done 200 miles, my first journey and it never missed a beat. Brilliant..cruised down the motorway showing 4k revs at 90mph and then windows down for the twisty bits and what a noise. HID headlight conversion might be on the cards though!
for anyone reading this who is considering a purchase, or changing from a modern Porsche, in the words of Nike...Just Do It !

Just brilliant and really looking forward to seeing the old gal.
Great job and car looks spot on and I like the personal touches.
Of course you will now use it for a while and then hanker after the next project, as the research and build is a big part of the fun

Dan - your car looks amazing - love it!
I think I sold that cigarette lighter to Ian some time back - so I'm glad to have a (very) small connection to "2" great cars !!

thanks Sean, I will look into that
final update on my car..I have added a few finishing touches over the weekend that I think makes the car look a little like it could have been a racing car back in the day

Tuthills told me that the period correct look is only the RS and not the RSR decals you can buy now...does anyone know for sure?

Mine is badged RSR but that was deliberate because it's not.
RSRs were originally just badged RS. Although many racers probably weren't badged at all.
Not sure about all the stickers on the cage Dan but will hold judgement till I see it in person. We have to get the two together, will be really spooky
I can see John Glynn and a 'double vision' article coming on

my car was dyno'd this week
results were 247bhp and 308nm torque (and a nice flat curve)
which is about the same power to weight ratio as a 320bhp 996
probably next year I will investigate intake manifold options.... Tuthills have got some rather tasty slide throttle high trumpet jobs... originally designed for racing but they are working on building in proper air filters

Very interested to know how you get on with the slides, I'm still hovering over the purchase of a set of ST baby 'high butterflys' for my 2.7 twin plug but the cost really is in divorce territory

agreed Martin! Historika (a great treasure trove of a website) have some NOS high butterfly intakes and wanted £5k. maybe next year. The slides arent really recommended for road use but if they can get some good air filters fitted they would be fine

had a fun couple of hours on Sunday with a chap called George Williams..car photographer. I highly recommend him...but you be the judge:
video for a bit of fun...doesnt quite get the guttaral sound but not bad for a Go Pro. i was hanging back to avoid stone chipping before anyone asks!

too right Dougie. 1200 so far, Goodwood pcgb day (105dB and still spare places if anyone else fancies it) on Thursday this week, looking fwd to that and will be doing an anti-rain dance Wednesday evening!
