As my 911 is tucked up for the winter I may as well talk about watches.
I have a sub which I use as an everyday watch. One owner from new, full service history etc. Never given me a seconds trouble.

My favorite is my 1967 (pre moon) cal321 Omega speedmaster. The chrono function on this has just packed in so it has just gone in for repair.
I have had to go to my back up watch

I know that having one of these 'new old' watches is a bit like having a back dated 911 but I could not find a nice enough original Heuer that I could afford. Though it is much more reliable than my original speedy, it is not as nice.

My watch collection has been growing steadily over the past 15 years. Now consists of:-

Omega Speedmaster Auto Date - classic styling, top quality engineering
Omega Speedmaster Pro X-33 - the ultimate "G-shock" watch
Girard-Perregaux Traveller II - Sunday best!
Poljot Sturmanskie 3133 chrono - Russian answer to the Speedmaster "moon" watch
Glycine Airman 18 - 24hr format, classic aviators watch
Oris F1 day/date - freebie

Watches are a bit self indulgent - a bit like classic 911s really

Heres my favourite - took me ages to find - 1133B early 70's Monaco with box and papers - also got a Speedmaster - absolute classic styling!

Both get worn regularly so have picked up a few small knocks - I think they call it patina

Good ones will hold their money unless your unlucky like a mate of mine who had the bonnet of his 911 come crashing down on his Rolex Daytona

- straight throught the glass - wrecked the movement!!!

Its modern, but I might be adding a Omega Flightmaster to the collection which is definately vintage.

I suppose anyone who appreciates good engineering will be interested in quality mechanical timepieces.

But I've become a bit of a cynic about the rolex thing. Unless it's a proper, interesting, vintage model, they are now so common, real or fake, that they are a bit of a cliche.

Quite like the IWC Portuguese for good taste, and the Panerai models have a nice blend of bling, class and history.

Truth is though, a £30 Swatch will be just as accurate.

I'm going to buy a watch..... I havn't had one for almost 15 years

At the moment it looks like I'm going to order either a Ollech & Wajs – ID 3077 or a Ollech & Wajs M4

I've got two mechanical Oris's that I'm going to sell on ebay some day.

one a black dial oblong face dress watch silver colour, about 9 years old but not worn for about 6 years - was about 600 new

Other a more sporty one, round dial, about 6 years old but not worn for 5 years - was 370 new

No idea what either would fetch on ebay.

Neither keep brilliant time but are adjustable

Neither have the 'diver' look of the ones you mentioned, but if you're interested I can let you have pictures.
