At last!

I've finally managed to get the original registration mark reinstated.
Our friends at the DVLA have not made it quick and easy but we're there. I've spoken to or visited three licensing offices, I've had to present the car for inspection (and shown the guy where he could find all the numbers) and I've got a sheaf of correspondence but I've kept my patience with 'em all and followed the meandering process.

Today, I got the authorisation certificate. I should also get a retention certificate soon for the old plate (and that can be returned to the previous owner as agreed). Then I'll await a fresh V5 (the fourth - don't ask).
The interminable delays have exasperated me so much that I'd forgotten that my initial fears would be that I might not get the original number back, so, really, I'm delighted to see the car on the correct registration. Good number too. Certainly looks better with age related 'black' plates.

Congratulations Paul. I cannot beleiive the delay you have experienced. I have transferred 2 plates recently, both within 5 days! Just make sure you have the correct V5 if you are stopped in France next week.

Apologies for the bump from the archives but I was looking for some '72MY pictures and rediscovered this build thread and it reminded me of how great this build was.

Loved it first time around and enjoyed reading it again! :)

Ah those days when a nut and bolt Resto used to take 12 pages instead of 100!!!

Just been through the build, indeed, a nice car.

I have a sneaky feeling the Green Metalic is the same colour as mine originally was (and not viper Green)
Time to try to get my colour plate off the A post and into nitromors to strip it all off.
