Get ready to welcome a new car to the club.

I had been looking for an early 911 and was determined to buy a RHD, home market car. My preference was a 2.4S.
Nick at Early 911 had found such a car. It was very original, in a cool colour (very 70's) and we shook hands at the end of October last year.
Work has been underway for some time now and as the car nears completion I'd like to start this thread and post a few pictures along the way.
I know Nick is careful to not use the forum for commercial gain so he'll be reluctant to post but I wanted to share some of his good work with you.

The car is a 1972 2.4S. I prefer the chrome horn grilles of the '72 cars (over the black of the '73) but it's also the 'unique for the year' external oil filler that appeals to me. It is a numbers matching car. Porsche originally painted it Metallic Green 224 with a Tan interior.
The car has been largely unused for the last twenty years (it was laid up for 18 years).
Aside from a pretty thorough colour change in the early eighties the car remained largely unmolested.
The vehicle is to be restored back to original specification.
Below is a photo of the car - as found - in Guards Red.
Also attached is a photo of a Metallic Green car (thanks Grazehoo), hopefully it'll end up looking something like that.

Here's a few shots of some of the bodywork that's been done.
The car was stripped to a bare shell and shotblasted clean.
All corrosion has been removed and the car fitted with many genuine Porsche panels. These include both front and both rear wings, front and rear bumpers, left inner rear wing, battery boxes & sills etc.
Porsche probably made more money out of the car this time around than they charged originally!

The paint code for the car is 224. It's called simply 'Metallic Green'.
Porsche used the shade from 1970 to 1973 I believe, using several different codes, changing for each year (230 in '73).
This first picture here is pretty poor but it shows the inner wing/battery box in primer and in the top left, a small portion of the original paint.
This was revealed when removing some sealant plugging a hole and it enabled Nick to accurately match the genuine Porsche shade.
To date the car has been painted inside and underneath to facilitate assembly of the suspension and interior. Once this work has been done the exterior will then be painted to ensure no damage during the rebuilding.

Thanks for the encouraging words.
The car should be ready at the beginning of April.

The suspension is already going back on. All components have refurbished and are being installed with new polyurethane bushes throughout.

I never intended to do this car to concours, just a nice clean driver. If I tried concours there would be so many criticisms of the finish: "It should be black underneath", "the luggage compartment body colour should fade out to grey towards the rear", etc. etc.

Thanks Grazehoo. I'm finding out how difficult it is to capture that colour accurately in photographs.

Anyway, here's a few more shots including some dashboard spaghetti and a rather nice pedal box cluster.
Nick says he didn't intend to '"do it concours" but you have to agree the detailing in the never to be seen again pedal mechanism is testament to his quality.
