Ah, i did not notice they were 16"s.
But your tyre is 23.7" diameter, which is good, as i plan on running
165/50-15's which are more than 2" smaller and of course 3cm narrower.
You said you had to take it up from the lowest setting? Where was it catching please?

reason i took it up wasnt clearance really - more to do with not having any suspension!! I dont really have much now - i think its running on the bump stops so i may trim them down but take it up a touch more.
lowered spindles (as fourteener said) would be the best way but they would have to be made as i dont think you can buy them.
