Sounds amazing.

I'm in the no decal camp. If you get bored of it after a bit you can always stick em on later.

Another 'no decal' vote 8) .

Forgive my ignorance ( ): are the photo's of a SWB car? Whatever it is I like it :) . At a glance I thought it had a LWB look to it, but looking at the torsion bar area, it looks SWB.

So does that mean the RS arches have come off the back, or am I getting mixed up with another of your cars?

Glad that the bulk of replies so far have re-inforced my way of thinking...

Barry - the pictures I posted are of 911R #20 - the last of the 20 'production' 911R's built. This is the ex-Matsuda Collection (Porsche Museum of Japan) car which sold at Auction last year for ~ $400k.

Unfortunately (in my opinion) it has now been repainted metallic blue (the colour that its first owner, racer Lance Reventlow - of Scarab fame - had it painted).

It just doens't look as good in blue.
Does the R have a different rear wheelarch profile to my '67 S or is it just the way pic has been taken?

Martin - yes, the 911R had extended rear wheelarches.

This picture from Ernie Wilberg's site shows the detail:

Oh, that explains the semi-LWB look of the pictures then: V. Nice

Can't wait to see the finished car Andy 8)

At this stage I'm going with no decals, but I'll reserve judgement until I see the car. I think modified LWB cars look good with something down the side :)
