To date the car has been painted inside and underneath to facilitate assembly of the suspension and interior. Once this work has been done the exterior will then be painted to ensure no damage during the rebuilding.

Its not something I have done before regrettably. No matter how carefull one is fitting a car up there is a scratch somewhere. This was suggested by my new bodywork specialist, Nick, who did all the weling and paint prep. The car should be going to final paint in the next couple of weeks.

Welcome Ferry Man. Great looking car and wonderful to see an early car in a different colour. Nick (as usual) is doing a great job. Are you far from him? I'm 20 mins away so would be great if there is another 911 in the vicinity to go play with

Perhaps aim for debuting at Volksworld with an easy shakedown run on Apr 1?

I'm in Farnham, Surrey, so not too far.
After a few trips down to see Nick I'll admit you've got some very nice roads down that neck of the woods.
We'll hook up when the car's ready.

Only problem is I'm a good, honest, law-abiding citizen and I'm not sure about being associated with those megaphones.

I think Nick might be sweating a bit to get it finished before April 1st but lets see how the boy gets on.

Farnham isn't far at all. Jonny G is our neck of the woods also (anaconda green 2.2). the megaphones have come off for now - they go on for special occasions

keep the pressure on these resto guys - if you give them an inch....

Not too much to show at the moment. I’ll have to try and get back down to Nick and take a few more shots.
As explained earlier the car is being restored to original and that means Green with a Tan interior. The first shot shows the car as found.
In stripping away the later black carpet set Nick discovered some remnants of the original brown carpeting. Therefore a replacement set has been sourced to replicate the original colour.
Along with re-trimming the seats in leather (front and rear) I’m getting all the door panels, dash inserts and rear shelf, etc. trimmed in tan leather too. It’s a lot of hides though and whilst it’s not entirely correct it should look superb. Hopefully smell nice too!
Therefore I’ve carefully looked through many swatches to match the original shade.
The work is out being done now. I’ll be sure and post photos once they are completed.
The photo below shows the carpet and leather swatches.
The shot of the Sepia Brown car is a similar colour scheme to the one we are trying to achieve.

A shot here of the steering wheel. This was in pretty good shape but it too is now being reconditioned. It’ll be re-painted and re-trimmed.
The wheel is 380mm diameter. It seems original to the car. Though not clear in the photo, the date stamp shows ‘10/71’ which seems spot on for a car built early in 1972.

I’ve also had some success in tracking some of the previous keepers.

I was at Nick's place the other Saturday to pick some bits up and must say that this car is going to be stunning. The work going into it is faultless. Top stuff.
