I have always accepted that most of the 356`s ended up in The States and it is a US based Club so that is the way that things are.
I know most of the key players personally, so to me it does not appear as foreign.

The fantastic thing is that under the leadership and efforts of Chuck House, they were able to retain their identity, unlike every other Porsche club in the world, which are Din Standard Porsche sales operations and bloody boring.

I suspect that came to pass because the club name doesn't contain anything trademarked that is owned by a DIN Standard company.

A somewhat late follow on with this post, I'm usually late with everything, I posted an opinion on the 356 Registry forum to the effect that I didn't like the term outlaw or the forums heading for posts on their outlaw section. The response received was understandably a mix of pros and cons but there was an underlying threatening tone to some replies with negative implications. I'm not sure if I shall be renewing my membership.

I think there were a few members that didn't entirely grasp your intended message Graham.

Then as often happens, things got a bit tangential as folks wandered off topic and started differing in opinion.

You've got to remember most of the Registry membership posting on the forum went to school with Ferdinand Porsche and I'm sure they mean no harm.

I do remember during the great Registry Unpleasantness many disenfranchised members retired to AbcGT. I rarely go there but I know Roy enjoys it. Maybe that would be more up you street ?

However, UK Outlaw is an epic thread and I always look forward to your updates. It would be a shame if you left although I admit to not renewing my membership for the odd year here and there. I very rarely post anything these days but I enjoy the magazine and I can generally find any answers I need using the search function.

Yes I do concur with your first sentence. In hindsight maybe I should have kept my thoughts to myself, having attended registry meetings it was fairly obvious to see that where US 356's are concerned the cotton bud and factory workshop manual rule. The trouble is my old girl is so far removed from the regular 356 that the stuff in the registry magazine and forum is rarely applicable to me. Ho hum.

Yes Mike I do like Justin Rio's ABCGT forum a lot.So much real practical work on 356 cars He always puts on great photos of his work and I have learn't so much from his bodywork restoration over the years. I know his forum seems sometimes to be quiet but it shouldn't be its that good. If I were younger I would love to put all the things I think I know now, into practice like Graham.But spent recently some time first changing a rear wheel bearing and seal then a hydraulic cylinder and brake shoes. Its the kneeling, bending and laying under cars let alone the work involved!
Still all running well now.
How Graham has done so much on his car baffles me really. What a Project to start and now get so close to completion.

Registry news :- Cliff has been reinstated and the site is now Google searchable again.

Hey Mike that's good news that you can reach it on Google. Since that was not possible often thought a lot of Registry members might have been sorry some of their efforts advising how they fixed 356 problems could not be seen my owners in trouble trying to get their 356 running again.
