Yep, keep going. I was in the same place for...years. It's all too easy to lose control to bodyshops, mechanics and so on and time just disappears into a black hole. What seems symptomatic of the car world is that it's full of excellent technicians in their field who are lovely people but awful at customer service in terms of communication, timing and so on. It's not always the delay that's frustrating ...it's the not knowing!

I 2nd that been there myself. People saying it will take a month and then 7 later. Plus I heard some horror stories this w/e of people having to threaten to take left car away to get some progress on it but there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Don`t forget that the top of the dash from the Windscreen back to the Dash Pad needs to be painted a colour that is complimentary to the Interior Trim Colour - Not body colour (unless the Trim is also Green)

Also the Bolts and Washers that hold the Door Hinges to the `A` Frame should be painted with th car and be 14 mm across the flats

If you check the parts book you will note that there are 16 Bolts and only 8 - Spring Washers

Washers are located as follows :-
Reutter Built Cars - The Front Bolts
Karmann Built Cars - The Back Bolts

didn't know that about the dash, (better get it sorted before Robin sees it ) interior trim is tan colour so will look to do something with that although i think it's possibly a bit late for the washers

I don't think this car will ever be totally correct , it's a none matching numbers car and a keeper but i will do my best to keep up with the Porsche tradition

Yes i'll be at Goodwood, I think we were Lucky this year as you say Big changes, numbers cut way down, and looks like it's bloody camping.

The dash can be done carefully with a brush - It is just a strip 25mm wide between the inside of the Windscreen and the Front Edge of the Dash Pad
It just make the Dash Pad blend in - and is the way that Porsche did it

Here is a few more tips that just jump into my head -

Clean out ALL the tubes - before commencing assembly
Spray Tectyl into ALL its cavities and lapped edges – before commencing assembly
Acid wash the Fuel Tank before fitting
Replace the Starter Motor Bushing in the Bell housing
Modify the Stop Tail Lights so that you are braking on Red (Teardrops)
Fit a Relay across the Ignition Switch or the Starter Motor
Fit Relays across the Headlights
Fit an Electric Fuel Pump
Clean EVERY Electrical Terminal (especially if you are 6v)
Check the condition of the Steering Box Pin
Make sure that you know which Track Rod goes on which side
Make sure you (or your man) know how to track a 356 correctly
Check that the Holes used for Self Tapping Screws on the Rear ¼ Windows are not stripped (bloody annoying after the Headliner is fitted)
Same comment for Sun Visors and some Mirrors
Do NOT fit external Mirrors until you are sitting in the car in a driving position
Make sure that you have the correct length screw for the Outer Door Handles – Too long and you will dimple the handle

I was thinking if I could possibly hand paint that strip, I think that's the way to go

Also thanks for the tips and advise on the other items, a few of them I have already checked

But others I will need to get my head round, lots to do Mike.
