My dad stopped rallying and racing Beetles in 1964, I think his last major rally was the '63 Circuit.

Had a Beetle myself and can vouch that Corgi are very accurate in modelling the underneath of one, when I had to take to a stout hedge to avoid a tractor, when out "doing" a Circuit stage round the back of Templepatrick in the snow :) The hedge won and the Beetle was scrapped, though I managed to drive it home !!

Yes, McBurney's was a frequent stop on many trips out with dad, and probably most folk dodn't realise that he was the guy that showed VW how to make a RHD Golf GTi

The Beetle, I posted in the Okrasa Special thread, was sold to Ronnie McCartney who rallied it for several years, before finally breaking the 356 crank, I believe.

If it was sold in '59 then that brings the list down to 6.
You don't know the interior colour? Could break the possibles down a bit further.

Hendrick

My recollection is the interior was black, it certainly wasn't a light colour

Hi Mike,

Unfortunately there are still four possibles with black interiors and I have no recent information on any of them. That doesn't mean it doesn't still exist, it could just be off the radar at the moment.
